In the basic of the traditional system of education and socialization of a gender there is a so called initial work distribution between men and women. Thus, much violence occurs when the man perceives that his wife has not carried out her duties, obeyed his orders, or shown him adequate respect. However, radical feminists believe it is mainly a sexual oppression. They argue that the ‘objectification’ of women through the media, fashion and advertising turns women into sexual objects, referring also to pornography, whose main role is to please and entertain men. However, there are social and individual explanations for this domestic violence.

From a psychologists’ point of view, they tend not to identify the relationship between the private and public aspects of family life. This has resulted in the ‘invisibility’ of battered women. Cheal argues however that feminist (as explained previously) and Marxist theories (pressures of economical transformations), have allowed sociologists to understand more abut the problems that occur within families and examine the structural causes, rather than accepting individual explanations when thinking of it as a private institution.

‘Wife-battering’ has been largely ignored by police, who have traditionally been reluctant to intervene in family disputes. They believe that families are private institutions and they should not get involved. Cheal points out three key notions about the family from this belief. The first notion is concerned about the limited access to which the public has towards the idea of a family being a private institution, where they have an acute idea of the true circumstances. The second is the idea of a ‘free agent’, where women have the freedom of relieving themselves from an abusive relationship. The final notion explains the idea of ‘interests’. When acting upon ‘interests’, a woman should act for the whole family group, than that of her own personal individualism.

A study in Britain concerning domestic violence, the largest of its kind, done by Dobash in Scotland, reveals more frightening conclusions. It reveals that twenty five per cent of all serious assaults were committed by husbands on their wives. It also revealed that due to our society allocating the domestic duties to the female, one major factor that has lead to this frightening statistic, was that men were not satisfied by their wives domestic duties. They also revealed that although most women who were violated had left their home, many were forced to return, due to their economic dependency on their partners or husbands, and the fear of the stigma surrounding the break-up of marriage. Relevant to this issue, is the way law in Britain took time to take action against domestic violence. Until 1991, women in England were forced to accept sexual intercourse against their will by their husbands. Connors, found that few societies penalised rape in marriage. Rape within marriage is an extreme example of violence to most feminists. There are questions to ask however! Is the system of patriarchy fair to generalise on all men? And do all women see it the same way as the radical feminists do? Are white females the first to express their struggle, views and defiance?

Many black feminists and feminists from developing countries claim they do not. They believe that the main feminist schools of thought are only based upon the living circumstances of mainly middle-class white women in industrialised cultures and countries. They believe it is unjust for radical feminists to speak on the behalf of all women, as they are only a specific group of females. Bell Hooks, an American Black feminist argues and quotes: “black girls have better self-esteem and are more assertive, speak more and appear more confident than their white counterparts”. She also says that their parents and teachers were always urging them to stand up right and speak clearly and that all these traits were not considered by white researchers and that they were discriminated against because of race and gender, thus explanatory frameworks favoured by white feminists, for example that of patriarchy, may not be applicable to black societies and cultures. Referring to black men, Knowles and Mercer argue that because of racism, black men do not benefit from patriarchy the same way white men do. Thus, patriarchy is not a word that can be applied to the entire male race.

I have been quite successful with Adwords, and so my post got longer and longer as I thought of things, and each one seemed more important than the last-It occurred to at that point that this would make a pretty useful article, as it’s something lots of people participate in, and I don’t feel that many people get as much out of it as they should do! I think it’s a pity because in the work at home and home business arenas, some decent Adwords skills can make a huge amount of difference to your online money making! 10- Trust your own conversion rates-Nobody else’s. This relates particularly well to those of you that are affiliate marketers. When you are considering what items to promote, only use other people’s conversion figures if they can physically prove them to you. I once agreed to sign on as an affiliate for a contact I had made through eBay-He seemed very professional, I liked his site and his product, and he assured me that the site converted around 5% of visitors into sales. I liked the sound of that, as I already had a few low priced keywords in mind that would bring in some good traffic. So I signed up. One month later, I had directed over a thousand clicks to his site, and there had not been a single sale. I got it verified by Clickbank too, so I know it was pretty accurate. Needless to say, our partnership ground to a halt.

9-Keep an eye on the budget-especially until the campaign takes off and becomes profitable. This seems really obvious, but those clicks really do add up fast. It’s really easy to let them get out of hand as we find ourselves pushing it up that extra couple of bucks here and there in the hope of picking up stray clicks at the end of the day. Before we know it, our 4 or 5 dollars a day is 12 or 13, and by the end of the month we owe Google a grand. That’s great if you are making good money from all those clicks, but from reading the forums I gather that this mostly happens to people that are just starting out and struggling to get into profit.

7-Quantity and quality-Spend time researching your keywords. The more time you spend, the less money you spend, and your click through rate will likely be better too. Campaigns are literally a job for these people, and the success or cost of the campaign is of no relevance because it all comes straight from the company funds. People like this are also the reason people like you and I can find thousands of cheap, closer matching keywords just by putting the time in. These guys run campaigns just by throwing money at them, and we can easily outperform them just by applying ourselves a little with the keyword research.

6-Match Test-Adwords lets you run multiple ads from the same keyword group simultaneously. This is a great tool if you put it to use properly. How? Simply by making each ad slightly different, and seeing which one pulls more clicks. Once you can see which one is more successful, tinker around with the wording on the less popular ad until it improves performance and pulls more clicks than the one that was initially leading. Do this constantly and before you know it you will have an ad which literally rips clicks off the page!

5-Have patience-When you make changes give them time to manifest themselves in your results. Only when you can see what effect a change has had should you make any more. If you don’t do things gradually like this you can quite easily mess a campaign up in a fashion that will take two or three days to get back on track.

4-Cheat-I don’t know if it’s ethical to say this, but I’m going to do it anyway- When you are starting an Adwords account, go to eBay first and buy some free Adwords credit. You can buy $30 of credit to an Adwords account for pennies from certain eBay sellers. That certainly makes your first few campaigns a little less stressful. Not ethical I know, but I’m sure Google will get plenty of money from you once you get the hang of the system. Here’s hoping they don’t sue me lol.

3-Don’t forget about other PPC schemes- You won’t get the traffic you would from Google, but you will get much cheaper high quality keywords, so it balances out really. I prefer Google myself because your writing skill plays as big a part as your wallet-your ad will appear closer to the top of the screen if it is popular with the customers. That means if your ad is effective and gets more clicks than the other bidders, you will be able to pay less than the other guys that have bid on that word.

2-Make Your Ads Specific- You can weed out a lot of non-qualified browsers by stating important facts in the ad copy- people that would have cost you money from the click and not bought anyway. For example an ad which simply states “House for Sale” would get clicks from all kinds of people looking for houses, but if it were to say “Two Bedroom House for sale” you would be naturally cutting out the customers which were looking for four bedroom houses, apartments etc, as they can see straight away that you do not have what they are seeking. This reduction is good because it would help keep our costs low due to unnecessary clicks.

1- Be Relentless- It’s easy to think you have made it in Adwords, and equally easy to become really disillusioned when you do not see results straight away. Just keep the faith- It’s science, not art, and as such can be learned. Stick with it and you will soon see profit, and once you are in profit it is just a case of maintaining that balance while you raise the budgets and increase your exposures!

Mirror, Mirror Syndrome: What Do You See In Others That You Need to Change in Yourself?

When I was a little girl I used to play "Snow White" and gaze into the mirror asking the question "Mirror, mirror who is the fairest of them all?" Of course, I fully expected the mirror to tell me it was ME! Why wouldn't it -- the mirror never lied. That was the selling point of the fixture -- it always told the truth.

As an adult, having the mirror of truth cast in front of you is a bit different. We look for the truth but sometimes are not comfortable with it. Often times when we're struggling with someone else's behavior or actions it's a signal that we may actually be exhibiting the same or similar behaviors.

"Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who is the most insecure of all?"

"Well" the mirror responds hesitantly "You Are My Dear"

"Me?" you respond in shock, clutching your pearls in dramatic fashion

"But I'm just sensitive, I'm not like Sally who is just so high maintenance and needy! Lord only knows why anyone would want to work with her!"

The mirror giggles "Are you sure about that? You might want to look a little bit deeper."

You could replace "insecure" with just about anything: stingy with money, withholding, manipulative, scared, ruthless, unfeeling, selfish etc. However the premise is the same. When you find yourself in a situation where someone or something is just twisting you into knots it usually means that a mirror is being held up for you to look at your own behavior patterns. Most often they are sabotaging patterns you use yourself.

Do you have trouble with flakey clients/vendors or even friends? Well that could mean that you're being flakey as well. I can hear your jaw dropping in utter denial. So I ask you: Do you make those follow up phone calls to other clients when you said you would? Do you show up on time to events or other appointments? Do you ditch plans with friends or family at the last moment, often? Are you reliable? Really, truly ... are you reliable?

The importance of understanding the MIRROR MIRROR SYNDROME is 3-fold.

a) Double Minded Drama - The conflict or agitation arises from a double minded dynamic that's occurring inside: Ego on one side -- the source of much negativity, fear, loss, perception of scarcity etc. On the other side is your true spirit self -- kind, loving, patient & compassionate. Clearly, they are diametrically opposed in nature. This clash is what produces unnecessary drama; feelings of resentment, anger or annoyance with another person that can play out in a variety of ways.

b) Listening to Your Guidance - The degree or intensity of what you're feeling about the person in question has only to do with your internal guidance system (that's your intuition) nudging you. The bigger the issue the harder the nudge.

c) Opportunity for Growth - The Power of Reflection is your intuition knocking at the door saying "hello wake up, you need to correct this sweetie & get back on track." The mirror is being held up and you can then address the situation.

In learning to evaluate these reflections you have to opportunity to learn about the things that may be limiting your success & sabotaging your own efforts. The intention of the Universe is for you to have a peaceful existence. Contrary to machinations of others who can spin conflict to their own benefit, a peaceful life is always the gift from above.

As Dr. Wayne Dyer says "Conflict cannot survive without your participation". If you like the drama and conflict, keep it. That's fine. If not, then it's time to recognize changes you might need to make and take action.

Remember, you have the power to decide how this will play out. It's all about CHOICE!

Today's Challenge: 1) Identify a person or situation is that is causing you great agitation in your work & in your personal life.

2) Pinpoint what exactly it is that they're doing that's causing the agitation: fibbing, not being reliable/on time, insecure etc.

3) Journal for 1 week each day about how that agitation point may be playing out in your own life. Sometimes it's not apples for apples. You might need to think of it in broader terms to find the link.

Women in Literature

In the following article I am going to discuss the role of a woman and her place in society based on two novels. These novels have had a pretty big significance when they were published as the women of that time had a minor role in society and were subordinate to men in any way and aspect. It is important to picture a woman as an individual on the inside and show her inner world in detail because this will help the society to understand women better and understand their behaviour in certain situations.

Many of our choices and the things one does with them in our lifetime can be directly based on what society perceives to be proper. The choices one makes based on societies views, may sometimes have no logic to support them. We sometimes choose to do things because society would look down upon the person making the “wrong” decision. My main aim in this essay is to analyse the characterisation of the central female protagonist in Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” and Samuel Beckett’s “Happy Days”, to see how these characters react within their given surroundings.

In the late 1800’s women did not play an important part in society, their jobs were mainly to cook clean, sew, take care of the children and keep the house in order. They were treated as a material possession rather than a human being that could think and act for themselves, and were generally looked upon as a decorative member of the household. Women were robbed of their true identities; although at the end of ‘A Doll’s House’ we see how Nora left everything she knew behind so she could go out into the world and find her own true identity. This behaviour can be traced back to the beginning of time when women were to stay at home and gather nuts and berries, whilst the male would go out and do the hunting and fishing. The male always dominated over the woman and it was not viewed as “unfair”. Male children would go to school and get an education in history, mathematics, science and English/Writing, while the female would go to school simply to learn how to cook, sew, clean and do household chores. The male could then further advance his education by attending a college or university, whereas no college would accept a woman student. Although we see how these things begin to change in Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House”.

Nora is the central mystery and challenge of “A Doll’s House”; she has a certain ambiguity about her, something that finally eludes rational interpretation. An obvious place to start is the title of the play “A Doll’s House”; this title is very clever in inviting us to apply a metaphor to the play, to look closely at what is actually going on in the Helmer household. Almost some sort of child’s game featuring an artificial life of dolls that are manipulated by their doll master or mistress. It invites us at once to look at the issue of power, and tries to identify who is actually in charge here. Normally it would be said in these times that Torvald would be in charge, he is of course the head of the household, and society’s darling. But the opening scenes show at once calls this interpretation into question. As we see Nora controlling him in an expert fashion. He may indeed try to adopt a controlling tone; “No debt, no borrowing. There can be no freedom or beauty about a home life that depends on borrowing and debt.

One of the crucial factors in the roles that Nora plays is that she needs to be in control, to take the lead role, using other people as supporting actors or audience. Nora is a very capable business woman, an adult female tease, and also a frantically desperate woman who is thinking of committing suicide, yet these manifestations of Nora’s character enable her to control others, she listens very carefully, learns from and also acts on what others say. This use of roles shows quite clearly Nora’s character. She can do things that nobody would expect of a woman in these times. Nora didn’t need to tell Torvald of the debt, at this point in her life as she is till young enough and pretty enough to exert her control over him. She will use this event in the future when she can no longer rely upon her looks. She will go on repaying the debt without letting Torvald worry.

Nora shows no particular interest in Torvald’s work or even in social issues outside her own world. If the rules in society state that she has done wrong, then it must be the society itself that is at fault. These things are irrelevant to her, as they provide no opportunity for her to perform, she has no space within these rules where she can appeal to a sympathetic audience or exert any control. She dresses up for Torvald, dances for him and recites to him; “Now play for me! I am going to dance!” 3. Torvald obviously enjoys it, as does she. “She had danced her tarantella, and it had been a tremendous success,” Nora acts out her various roles and Torvald responds, enabling Nora to keep herself in the marital spotlight.

We see the same issues arising again with Dr Rank; Nora again performs for him throughout their conversations, whilst he listens to her. “To have loved you as much as anyone does? Was that horrid?” This confession from Dr Rank seems to upset Nora. He is reversing the roles, and Nora objects to this, as she has no intentions of letting rank take charge here. She is happy enough with their roles together as she defines them, thus accusing Rank of ruining everything. As Nora has no understanding of how to answer to circumstances dictated by others, she resorts to what has worked for her in the past, by taking on a role of self-responsibility to somehow deal with an unravelling situation. We begin to see the various different methods that she uses which indicate her increasing desperation at having to deal with events, which she simply cannot control. Other people and the rules within the society, which they live, are too fatally complex for her efforts. When nothing seems to work she takes refuge in feeling that somehow Torvald will transform himself into the hero of her dreams resolving the issue for her. Looking at the society that they live in we see that this is a very transparent illusion, as Torvald himself lives for the society. This shows clearly the deterioration in Nora’s plan; she is unable to think rationally about what is happening, the more complicated things get the blinder she becomes to the situation she is in.

Nora is left with no choice but to leave. She does this very heroically, she shows that she has a passionate sense of herself; she refuses to live a life where she is not in control. She is being very defiant and this shows her values all the more as she is rejecting everything within the infected society around her.

Customer Relationship Management - 2 Secrets Every Small Business Owner Should Know!

When was the last time you received some form of communication, such as a postcard, phone call, or email, from a business asking how satisfied you were with their products and services? If you're like me, you may not be able to remember the last time because it has been so long (almost three years for me).

When was the last time you received some form of communication from a business to thank you for using their products or services or to simply maintain friendly contact with you? Once again, if you're like me, it has been a very long time.

In fact, the last time a business did that with me was almost seven years ago. I had spent several nights at a Bed & Breakfast in Colorado during the summer of 1999, and I received a Christmas card from the owners that Christmas with a picture of their house during one of Colorado's famous blizzards.

It was a nice follow-up on their part. When I received the card, it brought back the memory of the great experience and fun that I had while staying there. It also made a very nice impression on me that they had taken the time and effort to send me such a nice Christmas card (in reality, there wasn't much effort involved on their part, but recipients of this type of communication always magnify the effort in their minds).

This type of follow-up is one area in which almost all businesses fail miserably. Customer relationships are the life force of every business, yet business owners continually neglect these relationships. And it costs them dearly.

Think about all the money that a business may spend on advertising to bring in new customers. Think about all the money that a business may spend on creating a high-quality experience for their customers. Now think about how much most businesses spend to cultivate and reinforce their relationships with current customers.

How about your business? What do you, as a business owner, do to cultivate your relationships with your current customers? A current satisfied customer is your greatest asset. Not only are they already predisposed to continue doing business with you, but they are one of the absolute best sources of new customers through the power of "word-of-mouth" advertising.

Sure, your paid advertising promotes your business as being "the best". But paid advertising is almost never viewed as being objective. After all, everybody's paid advertising promotes their business as being "the best".

On the other hand, when a customer who has no profit motive enthusiastically recommends your business, that recommendation is worth its' weight in gold. People will trust the independent recommendations of others. That's just one of the many reasons why you should always take good care of your customers.

Okay, so how can you cultivate a high-quality relationship with your customers? Let's start by developing a simple action plan that you can begin to use immediately.

First, you need to collect contact information for your customers. Ideally, you should choose a method of contact that fits your type of business. In my example above, the postcard with a picture of the Bed & Breakfast was a great method of contact for that particular type of business. It was personal and effective. If you sell very expensive items, then you may want to consider a personal phone call. For many businesses, email contact may be the best method.

Whatever method of contact you choose, just be sure to let your customers know that you value their privacy and will not disclose their contact information to anyone else (trust is a huge part of any relationship). In some cases, you may even have to offer a little something to encourage your customers to provide their contact information. If necessary, do so.

Second, follow-up with your customers on a regular basis. You will need to decide what that regular basis should be based on the type of business you own. If you own a dress shop, then you may want to contact your customers and let them know that you just received a new inventory of the very latest fashions from one of your best suppliers. In this particular case, email or possibly snail mail will be your best method of contact.

If you own a boat dealership, then you may want to send recent boat buyers a note letting them know that you just received a new shipment of accessories that they may be interested in seeing. You may want to send less recent customers a note telling them about the new boat models you now have in stock and the incredible trade-in program you are currently running. Or maybe you can tell them about a "Customer Appreciation Sale" that you are having.

Perhaps you can contact your customers and offer them a special deal that will allow you to smooth a seasonal demand that your business may have. If you operate a small engine or lawnmower repair shop, then March and April are going to be pretty busy months for you. Why not send a note to your customers in January offering a special discount on lawnmower maintenance if they act by February 15th? That will allow you to level your workload and avoid the huge peaks and valleys in demand that you would normally have to deal with.

I do have one word of caution though; be very careful with the content of your communication with your customers. Always try to provide some value whenever you contact your customers so that they don't just view your contact as nothing more than a cheap and poorly conceived sales pitch.

If you do a good job of cultivating your relationships with your customers, then your business will reap the rewards. So don't delay. Use what you have learned in this article to begin building a strong and lasting relationship with your customers. You'll be glad you did.

Some Good Advice About Russian Women

These are just a list of general tips and procedures that you should keep in mind as you search for your Russian or FSU (Former Soviet Union) wife!

1) Know Yourself: You need to know who you are. By this I mean you should honestly sit down and decide what kind of qualities and character you have. This should prepare you to be better able to determine what kind of woman you want/need to have in your life. You need to be very honest and realistic as you do this kind of soul searching.

2) Know the Type of Woman You Want: Based on your qualities, character, attitudes, etc… decide upon the type of woman you are seeking. Of course, you should also become educated and bear in mind the realities of this process. For example, do not write to a woman who is 30 years younger than you. (Even 20 years younger may be too much) Do not write to an 18-21 year old with super-model looks unless you truly feel your appearance is justified for this. Be honest. I would also suggest sitting down and writing a profile of the type of woman you want. Let me share with you the type of profile I think makes the best FSU wife: 25-35 (depending upon the man’s age, of course), divorced with a young child (4-10), limited English (but either currently studying or willing to learn), and working.

3) Ask Her Questions: Find out all you can about the woman/women you are contacting. Learn what they do, what their goals and dreams are, why they are interested in finding a foreign man as a possible husband, even try to figure out her attitudes and how she thinks. You must ask her questions to do this. She will certainly be asking you the same type of questions. If do not respond in similar fashion, she will probably assume you are not serious.

4) Keep the First Letter Simple: Generally, you want to keep your first letter simple and straightforward. By all means, include a photo. She wants to see who she is talking to! And besides, you have already seen her photo! There are cases, however, where you may want your first letter to be more detailed. It really depends on if you want a lower, higher quality response, or if you just want the maximum number of women to answer.

5) Do Not Send Money: Never send money to a woman you have not personally met. If she asks for money, run away because it is a scam. An honest woman has too much pride to ask for money from you. If you do not send money you cannot be scammed! Always remember this.

6) Be Prepared to Make a Trip: No, I do not mean that you need tickets in hand. Just understand that if you intend to marry one of these wonderful, sexy women, you will have to meet her in person in her home country. This is a requirement for the visa processing. A woman will generally give you 4-6 months to decide that you want to come meet her. So, you will have SOME time to decide and make arrangements.

7) Make Sure You Can Afford This Process: It is neither cheap nor fast. Of course the exact amount will vary depending upon how you decide to go. You can figure that for an organized agency tour you will spend between $4,500-6,000 for a trip. If you go on your own, you can figure around $1,500-2,500 per trip. Maybe even a little less if you are careful about your money. Chances are you will need to take more than one trip. Even if you have corresponded and spoken on the phone for a while, it may not be the best thing to marry someone after only spending two weeks with them (typically the average duration of a trip to the FSU). Then, there will be additional expenses as you prepare the visa paperwork—tickets for her to your country, paperwork and processing fees, money that she may need for English lessons, etc…

8) Be a Leader: A Russian woman does not want a weak man…she could find that in Russia! These ladies are tired of having to be the head of the house, and make all the decisions. They are tired of weak-willed and lazy husbands and boyfriends who do not want to raise a family and cannot seem to take care of them and their children. Russia and the FSU are very male-oriented and the man is expected to fill the traditional roles of being the main provider and leader of the family. If you expect anything different from yourself, then this is probably not the type of woman you want to pursue. Might I suggest a stuck-up, overweight, over-bearing good old American woman!? Even better if she is a raging feminist!

9) Do Not Fall In Love With a Photograph: These ladies look even better in person than they do online! But watch out for pictures than are overly sexually suggestive. A serious woman will not use such a photo (half-nude, bikini-type, with her breasts half out of her shirt). Additionally, you should be interested in finding out her inner qualities. Be interested in her! You want to spend your life with someone who is interesting to be around, not just look at, don’t you?

10) Verify You are Writing a Real Woman Who Is Genuinely Interested in You: You must make sure that you are writing to a real woman. There are all kinds of scams that can range from an agency making up a woman entirely, to having a man impersonate a woman (both of these are usually accomplished by stealing photos off the internet), to even having her letters altered. Sometimes an agency will have real women, but after a letter two they decide they are not interested in you. Instead of letting the correspondence (and their income) die, these companies, or interpreters will simply write the letters for the woman! You need to get your woman’s full contact details (full name, address, phone numbers, email addresses). Then contact her using alternate methods in addition to those provided by the agency. This should tell you if she is real and is actually writing to you.

11) If You Can’t Get Full Contact Details, Move On: The only exception to this rule is if you feel the agency is the reason why you are not able to get her contact details. If this is the case, try this: ask if they will provide a three-way call to your woman, using their interpreter. Then schedule the call. Purchase the minimum call time allowed. When you call your girlfriend, chat for a few minutes and then ask for her direct phone number. If you think she will go for it also say that you would like to send her something in the mail, would she give you her address? Then you can work off of that and contact her with your own interpreter and maybe send her a letter or a small gift in the mail. Now that I think about it, asking for her address first might work better because the interpreter might get suspicious otherwise. You could even go so far as to say that the delivery company would need her phone number in case she was not home when they came…that it was a requirement.

12) Be Open On Sexual Issues: Do not be afraid to talk about sex with your girlfriend. These ladies are very straightforward and open. In some cases, this can be a bit shocking to you. I am of course talking about an open and straightforward dialog. NOT something where she starts saying how much she wants to sleep with you or what she will do to you (or what she wants you to do to her). That kind of talk would be more of an indication of a scam. She may not have ever met a foreigner. Maybe she is curious about the sexual habits of American women (or American men!). Or maybe she would like to find out if you are more of a “playboy” or more stable. These are all related to her idea of American culture. Just be ready for this and even expect it.

13) Follow Your Instincts: By all means, read and educate yourself. Learn as much about this process as possible. Look at the forums or message boards. Always keep learning. If you see red flags when you are dealing with a woman from the FSU or a marriage agency, know when to try and deal with it and when to walk away and move on. The bottom line is not to send money and just don’t do anything that you would question if you were dating a woman back home. Sure there are differences between Russian and American women, but women are still women. Do not just simply chalk up every difference to a cultural variation. Think about it and analyze it.

14) Always Have a Back Up Plan: When you are traveling in the FSU, you must have some contacts. Never go for just a single woman. Always have the contact information for other women and other agencies in the same city close by. Sometimes you can look at a woman you have been communicating with for months and see it all vanish instantly. It happens. I have heard it said that you learn more in one personal meeting than from 100 letters and phone calls. This is absolutely true. You need a second (or third) agency and other women that you can contact.

Walking down the crowded streets, pushing your way through the queue, passing through the halls of a high school, dancing on the club floor, you simply can't help noticing how people especially youngsters, try to decorate every part of their body. Bald Is Beautiful!

At the outset let me point out that this bit is not written to discourage those who have embarked on the enterprising trichological quests in pursuit of the hairy mirage. This is a fact : by no stretch of imagination can one consider Male Pattern Baldness a disease, though it does cause some dis-ease in the feeble minded! At the most it can be branded a cosmetically distressing ‘problem'.

An article in praise of the chrome dome by Prof. Raja Babu of Hyderabad, one of the doyens of dermatology in India, set me browsing the net and literature to get to the root of the scant hair scenario. And this search did prove to be quite fascinating.

Here was one web site by a group of merry ladies, a fan club of THE BALD:

There is no historical record of how long baldness has been blessing men. A reasonable guess is that our cave dwelling ancestors were never bald, but were endowed with bearish overgrowth all over to protect them from the rough exteriors. Richard Harrison and William Montagna predicted long ago in their book ‘Man' that men of future generations shall be even balder, ultimately a time will come when each and every single hair root will vanish into the oblivion of evolution. To put in a nut shell, the bald men are far ahead in the evolution tree than their contemporary hairy cousins.Wow! Something to be proud of, isn't it?

Aristotle(BC 384-322 BC) associated baldness with "libidinous males" and Hippocrates (460-377 BC) observed that ‘eunuchs do not take Gout nor become bald'. A 1983 study revealed that bald men have high concentrations of testosterone in their saliva compared to their hairy counterparts. Lots of other studies also point towards a greater aggression, a greater virility or a greater reproductive ability in the Bald Machos!

Economically also the bald stands to gain. No hair cut expense, no oil, no combs. And heavy savings on grooming time and money!

Still a lot of deluded bald heads world over spend millions every year in vain search of the hairy mirage. Since time immemorial the obsession to regrow the lost vanity had bordered on pathological obsessions for the magical cure.

Look at this ancient Egyptian remedy for the baldness: Spread a mixture(on the bald head) of the fat of a lion, a hippo, a deer, a crocodile, a goose and a serpent. Hunting must have been a part of the medical curriculum in those days! Another ‘simpler' remedy simply consists of equal parts of writing ink and cerebrospinal fluid.

Minoxidil and Fenestride compete with hundreds of alternate herbal cousins which promise miraculous cures for the distressed and the deluded. Many people who fall victims to the high profile, and most of the time unethical, advertisement gimmicks get temporary and scanty relief after years of scrubbing and rubbing.. By the time they realize the futility of the exercise they are poorer by thousands of dollars. Herman Melville in Moby-Dick (1851) puts it rather bluntly: "In truth,(if) a mature man who uses hair-oil, (then) that man has probably got a quoggy spot in him somewhere. As a general rule, he can't amount to much in his totality!". What can you say to that?

Back to the sowing days, transplanting hair roots was a fashion for a brief period, which lost its charms in the aftermath of huge chunks of gaping holes in the purse coupled with equally unbearable and prolonged pains that the courageous had to endure.

Concealment was taught to the humanity by none other than Julius Caesar the First who used to comb forward in a brave attempt to conceal his bald pate. We definitely know he was unsuccessful in his attempts as his apical activities have been carefully noted by his historians and passed on for the posterity as a' piece de coupe'! With the eminently stylish wreath becoming an object de fashion , ancient Romans were also the forerunners of the multibillion dollar wig business; though the emperors kept the laurel wreath for themselves for many centuries. and denied their citizens the ‘pleasure' of concealment.

William Shakespeare, himself a respectable bald, was quick to recognize that baldness and wit go together. The Bard noted in " The Comedy Of Errors": "...and what he (God, that is) scanted men in hair he hath given them in wit..".

We have many contemporary "greats" who adorn the Hall of Fame with natural and aided chrome pates: Yul Brynner, Persis Kambatta, Sinead O'Connor and not to forget Andre Agassi and Michael Jordan, the list is long and reads like a Who is Who in the world of the famous.. Explore the ‘heady' properties of the powerful leaders of the Nations , and , have no doubt, the Bald will shine far ahead than the hairy ones.

Forget the story of Samson and Delilah. What kind of wimp loses all his strength at the mere snip of his hair? Real men do their talking with chrome domes. Want proof? Just look at the world of professional wrestling, where the hottest and brightest superstars have smooth skin and don't wear rugs to cover it up!

Ambrose Bierce in his The Devil's Dictionary (1911), defines RESPECTABILITY as ‘The offspring of a liaison between a bald head and a bank account'. No doubt about it, yes, the bald scalp symbolizes Wealth and Wisdom. Cool!

3 Days to the Body you Desire!

I’m sure I have your attention! No, I don’t mean that in 3 days you can achieve what every infomercial, “celebrity fitness trainer”, self proclaimed guru, or beautiful model (male of female) trainer TOLD you is going to be your ticket to Eden. In the end, nothing is going to beat old-fashioned hard work towards the goal-line!

So, you ask, how pray tell am I supposed to accomplish this amazing feat in only three days?? Well, I’ll tell you….My TWO ON, ONE OFF plan of attack…..FOREVER known herein and here out (now copyrighted!) as my TWO-ONE DIET!!!

ANOTHER DIET YOU ASK??? NO!!! Not a diet, a strategy! A strategy that we will implement to help change your life, drop some unwanted pounds, and help you get going into the direction of improved wellness!

The “2-ONE”© diet is simple! You are on this “diet” for two days, off for one. That means you are staying strict 6 days out of every 9. Odds are good that you are going to succeed doing the right 2/3 of the time! What is the right thing? Well, let’s briefly discuss the “TWO ON” part:

For two days, we are going to eat very soundly! That means whole grain, lean protein sources (lean meat, fish, chicken, eggs, turkey), Veggies (Lots of veggies), and a balanced approach to it all! Below is a sample of your day: LOWER CARBOHYDRATE, MORE VEGGIES, PORTION CONTROL, AND DON’T EAT LATE AT NIGHT - 3 HOURS BEFORE BED!!

Breakfast: Whole grain cereal (1-2 servings per your NEW favorite box), skim milk or fat free milk for taste. OR, Whole grain wrap, 3 egg whites, 1 whole egg, salsa.

Lunch: Chicken salad (or other meat, turkey,egg) lightly sprinkled almonds or peanuts for crunch, raspberry vinegarette dressing

Afternoon snack: 1 serving dry (crunchy) cereal….or some fruit…or a yogurt with wheat germ.

Dinner: Veggies (lots of veggies – the greener the better! String beans,spinach,green beans, lima beans, or the like) 6 oz. of protein (lean sirloin, chicken, fish, turkey) and a SMALL portion of carbohydrate (brown rice, red potato, whole grain pita)

ONE DAY OFF! What does one day off mean? Well, that means that you do EXACTLY the same thing as your two days on, but on ONE DAY OFF, you enjoy a meal, drink, or desert that you like! That may mean pasta for diner, cheesecake after “Din, Din”, or perhaps a glass of wine on the side! ONE luxury, NOT ALL! Remain doing the two day strategy, but enjoy ONE meal during this one day off that you will enjoy. That way, you are strict for 2 days, off on the third, and realize a reprieve from “the diet”.

Pretty simple stuff without overcomplicating your life. Trust me, I have seen great things happen with a scheme of this sort. Of course, everyone is an individual and individual likes, dislikes, medical needs, food allergies, and food avoidances need to be considered. You enjoy dollmaking, but sometimes you get that confounded artists block. You don't feel like you can come up with something new and unique. Try these 10 ideas to get your creative brain working again.

1. Look around you. All sorts of different characters live in your real life family and friends. Take one quirky gesture or look and make a whole new character based on that idiosyncrasy.

2. Read a good book lately? Did you like something about one of the characters? Spin off from that and make an original doll.

3. How about a movie or TV character? Is there something in the actors features or the characters personality that you can incorporate into your next art doll?

4. Pick up different magazines that show photos of people in different life situations. Thumb through golfing, boating, fashion, outdoor, and any other magazine that might inspire you.

5. Drive to a mall, find a bench, then sit and observe people. You will get massive amounts of ideas here from everyday people going about their business. How old are they? Watch what they do, how they interact with others, and what their hair and clothes look like. Pay attention to details because realistic qualities will bring your dolls to life and make them appealing to the masses.

6. Visit an art museum. See what other artists are creating. Take one idea from several artists and combine them to make a doll that is totally different from anything else.

7. What's your profession? Do people joke about your work (example: lawyers)? Can you make a character from the joke? How about combining two unlikely professions. The less likely the professions complement each other the more wacky your character.

8. Search the internet for clip art. Combine different clip art ideas for an extraorinary doll.

9. Internet art galleries can stimulate great ideas. Many artists can be studied since the internet is so vast.

10. Finally, don't forget your own imagination. Did you have a dream that you remember? Did your own brain create the perfect character in this dream? Or try brainstorming. Write down anything that pops into your head. Use this list to prompt your brain and consider the possibilities for making the most spectacular character you've ever created.

Always, carry pencil and paper with you to jot down ideas as you go about your daily business. Something you see may inspire you but by the time you get home you forgot your idea.

The Plus Size Clothing Nightmare

I've worn plus size clothing most of my adult life. And let me tell you, clothes shopping has really been an agravating experience to say the least. You go to the mall and visit the one store that carries sizes more than 1X. You browse the racks and find a nice pink blouse you'd really love to buy, and they DO have plus sizes, but YOUR SIZE PINK BLOUSE IS MISSING. ARRGH!

Or, you might find a pretty black bra that you'd love to have, but they are out of the 42DD. Pure frustration.

At first glance it looks like the big and beautiful store has a lot of items, but when you take into account that each item probably is displayed with 4-6 sizes, there really isn't that much in one store. Even the big chain stores like Target, Walmart and K-Mart really have a limited supply of plus size clothing. And most of it isn't very stylish.

And why do all other stores always put the women's plus size clothing section right next to the Maternity section? I'm offended by that as a large woman, and I'd be offended by that as well if I were a pregnant woman. You have to make sure that you aren't checking out the clothing that belongs in the maternity section.

Speaking of maternity wear, I know from personal experience that finding maternity clothes as a larger woman is murder! I seems that only the skinny girls get pregnant as far as the clothing manufacturers think. You have to find a special store that carries nothing but plus size maternity clothing, and lots of it.

To add to the frustration, they put the Petites section on the other side of the Women's section. Come on...no big woman wants to shop next to all those perky little skinny girls.

It's all so darn frustrating. But there is a solution. Shop online. More items, and more sizes, and total freedom to choose in your own home. An online store doesn't have space restrictions and can display a thousand items with relative ease.

That's easier said than done. Some online plus size women's clothing stores carry a limited line. You have to visit many online shops to find what you want. It's hard to find an online plus size fashion site that offers bigger size shirts, pants, suits, etc., from many designers and retail stores. 10 Fashion Mistakes That Can Spoil Your Look

While the world may be leaning toward more casual attire, there are still a number of fashion mistakes and faux pas you need to avoid regardless of the occasion or dress code. These include:

The Skinny On Teenage Body Image and Spiritual Health

Many young women and teenagers are placing great value on looking like the latest Cover Girl model, and placing little or no value on spiritual health. I agree, it is important to be feel good about the way we look, but I think the culture is going a bit too far. It is far more important for young girls to feel good about who they are on the inside, wouldn’t you agree.

What are we teaching our youth of today? Have we, as parents contributed to this self-indulgent need to look perfect, be thin as a rail, and wear expensive adornment to be somebody? Have we taught our children that beauty starts on the outside? Are we telling them that it is more important to “look” good rather than “be” good?

I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold and pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. (1 Timothy 2: 9, 10)

It is not a sin to get a nose job, and wear expensive clothing and jewelry, but as we all know, real beauty comes from the inside of a person, not what they are wearing or how beautiful they look. A modest, kind teenager will gain more respect and kindness from others than one who dresses in expensive clothes and is stuck-up and hateful. It all begins in the attitude.

The standards of what society deems important is not what God deems important. As a teenager, I strived to be accepted by others, but I never really loved myself. Because of this, I never became the young person God created me to be. I wasted my teenage years trying to impress others, but that wasn’t who I was. It wasn’t until I was in my thirties that I realized God’s love for me. It is never too late to become the person God intends you to be, but if you wait, it may be too late.

It is important to wear clean clothes and be well groomed, but it is not important to have big breasts, a twenty-five inch waist, full lips, and a perfect nose. God made you the unique and special young girl that you are. Your nose, eyes, lips and chin is your uniqueness that sets you apart from looking like everyone else. Accept what God has given you and be content to be who it is you are.

…Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. (1 Peter 3:4)

It’s easy to be beautiful on the outside, but it is not an easy thing to be beautiful on the inside. Being beautiful on the inside is a bit more difficult to accomplish. It takes great wisdom and understanding to realize the special person you are regardless how much money you have, how skinny you are, or what you wear. Those things don’t make someone be great. Those things do not make someone successful. Those things are only a cover up to hide the true self. To be great and to be successful is to know God! Your true value in God is what’s important not what others think of you.

Please don’t fall for the "appearances trap", and become too obsessed with fashion and looking like the latest cover girl model. Dress to please God not others. Of course, hygiene and neatness is always important, but even more important is your inner spiritual self and attitude towards others and God. Strive to be the person God wants you to be not what the world is enticing you to be.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is –his pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)

Once you've found clothes that fit your shape and size, try experimenting with different clothing elements to bring about the desired effect.

For example, if you're heavy...

*Try adding a long beaded necklace or pendant to your ensemble to give you a slenderizing vertical line.

*Avoid clothes that add visual bulk, like chunky sweaters, horizontal stripes, or light-colored fabrics.

*Opt for monochromatic looks, blending colors from head to toe.

Or, if you're very thin...

*Use gathers and soft fullness to visually add pounds.

*Use multiple layers to create fullness and interest.

*Wear contrasting colors on top and bottom.

Once you understand your body shape and realize that you're going to have to hunt down retailers to serve your non-standard size, your clothes-hunting duties become a lot less frustrating. Things That Grown Women Don't Wear

Apart from diapers, you mean? Even then, that's questionable since we do use sanitary napkins...which...erm, some kids liken to a nappy. I know of one mother who actually said it was a nappy to her kids! I was like....argh, eugh, gross...but she took it in her stride, raising her eyebrows asking, "What do YOU suggest I tell them?"

I don't know...but I told my son that it was none of his business and if he ever dares to touch those...erm, stuff or take it out of the room, I will personally see that his PC game privileges are taken away from him. And he refuses to look into my personal drawer after that.

I am no clothes-horse in person and it was only a couple of hours ago that my aunt in Dubai called me to tell me that I was sloppy. In my personal opinion, I am 'carelessly casual'. Hey, can you blame me for being so when I work at home and have to consider changing in and out of clothes often because there's pee, poo, spit, vomit...and what-have-you-nots on them. I do have to take care of my kids, you know! Donald Trump is, unfortunately, out of my league and he's not my father, so, I have to take care of the kids and work at home at the same time, ok?

And since I work at home, is there a point to dress up in coats and skirts....what, to please my computer?

Anyway, in my personal opinion, there are several things that women shouldn't wear, under ANY circumstance.

ONE, pigtails. I used to have long hair and whenever I had to perform one of those 'ah-sam' (women who have to perform lots of house chores) work, I would tie pigtails. Now I don't. Why? Well, one of my cousins once asked me if I was trying to behave, act and look like a maid. If I walked side-by-side with my maid, they'd think I was the maid cause even my maid does not wear pigtails.

TWO, overcoats. In this friggin' weather?? Come on. But even if I was living in a very cold country, I would only wear an overcoat if someone threatened to shave my eyebrows off, ok?

THREE, checkered red and black skirts. ....and look like I was wearing a kilt? Come on. Besides, Kilts are for Scottish MEN, mind you, not sensible women.

FOUR, socks that goes up to the knee. You want to look girly, go for plastic surgery, dear. Wearing socks that goes up to your knee will only make you look like you're out of your mind, not younger.

FIVE, frilly frocks. Lord, only people who belong in an asylum will want to wear a frilly frock. Or are you pretending to be a princess in the making? Look, if you're 30 ot 40 years old, wearing a frilly frock makes you look like you don't know the difference between your nose and your knee.

For aging women, the best thing is to go for simple and casual stuff....back to the kind of clothes I would wear anytime of the day. As long as it is kept simple, nice, tidy, classy and not creased like you'd been snogging with your fave bloke behind the curtain, you should be safe.
